I haven't been around chickens in over 40 years. I will build 2 maybe 3 tractor pens soon. My intention is of course to raise some Javas.
Please give me some details about these birds.
Are they good around children?
Do they lay dependably well?
Are they good moms?
My grandchildren will want to "play" with them. Can you actually pick them up? How shy are they? Will they hang close to you?
I don't see any of the predators that kill chickens now. But, I suspect they will start showing up when the chickens do. How wary are they? Are they good at identifying danger and avoiding it?
Are the roosters good at watching over his flock?
Thanks for the replays in advance!
Ray

Ray These birds are exceptional foragers, they lay very well and are good birds to have around children. In general, you could not do any better than having Javas around the farm. Good luck with your new chickens Roy
